Waiting On The Lord

We all, at some time or another, find ourselves waiting for the Lord.  We are expecting Him to show up in a mighty way. But what do we do while we are waiting? We may have to wait a few days, a few weeks, a few months, or maybe even a few years. What helps me when I am waiting for the Lord is to “wait on Him.” Wait on Him like a waiter waits on his tables; he serves the people at his tables. He brings their beverages and makes sure the drink never runs out; he brings them their food and checks back periodically to see if they need anything else. He is at their service. We should be the same way with the Lord. We should be at His service, doing His will, at all times and especially when we are waiting for Him. We all know that staying busy helps the time to pass.  If we are constantly looking at the clock, it seems as if time passes by so slowly.  But if we are busy, time seems to fly by.

I have found myself waiting for the Lord many times. As a matter of fact, I am waiting for Him right now. But as I wait for Him, I am continuing to “wait on Him”, serving Him as I wait. We completed our first year of school with Gift of Knowledge Academy and we are into our second year. I have been waiting for the Lord to provide us with a permanent location, but in the meantime, we are making do with our temporary locations. Through this situation as well as others I have experienced, I have learned to just be patient and be faithful to that which I have been called to do, and He will show up mightily. But, I have also learned that He will bless you along the way.  You will see His hand in your situation all while you are waiting for Him. “Waiting on Him” while you are waiting for Him makes the wait fly by and makes the wait more enjoyable. The next time you are waiting for the Lord, try “waiting on Him.”
